On Nov 8 2016, Fairfax County voters will be asked to vote for U.S. President, U.S. Congressman (in one of three districts), two Virginia Constitutional ammendments, a Meals Tax referendum, and three bond issues. Herndon residents will also be voting for mayor and six town council slots. The U.S. and Herndon votes will be on the front of the official ballot, while the remaining issues will be on the back.

Va. Constitutional Amendment -- Right to Work

Virginia currently has a right-to-work statute that bans employers from requiring union membership. Supporters are seeking to add right-to-work regulations to the Virginia Constitution to prevent future lawmakers from undoing the state's current laws -- a valid point.

Va. Constitutional Amendment -- Surviving Spouse

Virginia's Constitution already provides property tax exemptions to military veterans and surviving spouses. This amendment would allow localities to add the same exemptions to surviving spouses of first responders.

Fairfax County Meals Tax Referendum

Do you wish to allow Fairfax County to tax you an extra 4% (in addition to Virginia's 6% tax) on prepared foods? The extra revenue would allegedly go 70% to schools and 30% for other County expenses.
